We have more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing carbon composite materials which are valued for their controlled friction properties. We are also actively involved in customer-sponsored research and development programmes in this field.
The most common application for our carbon composites is within the aerospace industry where carbon fibre friction discs are used in flap jam systems. In addition, the friction properties and excellent high compression strengths of these materials make them ideal for use in other specialised applications.
Our two most popular products are described below. We are also able to supply a range of other carbon-carbon materials. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements and we will be delighted to assist.
Product range
| Name | Description | Compression Strength | Density | Typical Application |
| CRC M 3050 | Layers of graphitised carbon cloth impregnated with phenolic resin are subjected to repeated carbonisations, impregnations and chemical vapour infiltrations. The material is designed to have controlled friction properties and has excellent compression strength and wear properties. It has low density and good chemical resistance to around 350 degC. Diameters of up to 130mm can be produced. |
At least 30,000psi (206 MPa) | 1.31-1.45g/cc (Typical: 1.35g/cc) | Carbon-carbon friction discs for aerospace |
| CRC M 3052 | Layers of graphitised carbon cloth impregnated with phenolic resin are subjected to repeated carbonisations, impregnations and chemical vapour infiltrations. The material is designed to have controlled friction properties and has excellent compression strength and wear properties. It has low density and good chemical resistance to around 350 degC. Diameters of up to 130mm can be produced. |
