History
The NewMet Group has been in business for more than 60 years. Our product range has developed during that period to continue to meet the requirements of the principal industries with which we trade, and increasingly we have moved into manufacturing our own products.
Throughout those years we have built a reputation for understanding the material requirements of our customers and fulfilling their needs promptly and efficiently.
The company has grown both organically and through acquisition, adding new businesses which align themselves to our areas of technical expertise and the needs of our customers.

NewMet acquires C S Marine Limited – our paints division today

NewMet acquires Surrey Group of Companies – now operating under the Newmet umbrella as our electro-shielding and anti-static products

NewMet acquires Koch Chemicals Ltd – the high purity metals and chemicals side of our current business
- 1986
NewMet starts production of carbon-carbon components for aerospace.
- 1980s
NewMet starts silicone foam processing. Airbus first approve NewMet silicone foam products. NewMet acquires Fordath carbon-carbon production expertise.

The company name is changed to New Metals and Chemicals Ltd.
- 1947
Newmet Trading Co Ltd starts operations as a distributor of metals and chemicals.
